19 of the Russian's 21 championships have been won on hardcourt

A resurgent the Russian player secured his initial title for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition championship match.

The Russian, a ex- world number one, has experienced a torrid period, achieving just one match at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in especial - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

Now training with Johansson and Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily improved in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Moutet.

It is the player's first title after the Rome competition and first on a hard court after spring of the previous year.

Victory also signifies Medvedev has won 21 titles at twenty-one various tournaments.

"For the first time I have attended a event with my children together, so to secure a title is really nice," commented tennis professional Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the first title I got when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, featuring in that event earlier this year.

The player's retrieving play style and recurring reactions on the playing surface had prompted some to wonder if his skill to play at the elite level was concluded.

However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and perform assertively, reinforced by an better service.

The champion fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, taking 4 of the last five points to take the lead.

The pair exchanged break points in the second set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden tour championship, seized the initiative to push for a decider.

He rescued 4 early chances in a close final set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to serve for the match.

Appropriately, he secured victory with a point at the net, with his opponent incapable to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
